Promoting your Blog !

Are you interested in promoting your blog? You want more traffic visitors that keeps coming back? I bet you do. Well I don't have the answers, but I came accross two sites that I strongly recomend.
You can check them out. That you will get useful tips for making your blog a success is guaranteed.

Promoting my Blog

I have reason to believe that the search engine are not really as smart as we assume. I was searching for ideas on how to promote my blog. Lo and behold, I saw a listing which looked very interesting to me.

The link took me to a blog and I was shocked to discover that the last post on that blog was made in the year 2005. Yet the blog was ranked very high. The owner of the blog in a particulary post actually stated that his goal is to rank high in the search engine. I guess he accomplished the feat long ago and whatever formula he used (it was not disclosed) is still working even long after he has stopped paying attention to his blog.

When I get the trick, I will be willing to share with you. Don't ask me whether it will be free. It all depends on what it cost me to get it ;-)

A website designer in the Making

It is approximately 44days ago that I started this blog. It was my first serious attempt at making a presence on the World Wide Web.

Now, I have decided to take another baby step forward. I want to be a website designer! Or is it webmaster I should say? Well whatever it is called. I want to make website CREATION my hobby. I have learnt through this blog that I can actually become good at it if I put my heart to it and I am willing to learn.

At first I thought blogging was simple but I have come to discover that even though it is fun, at the same time, it is hard work. Nobody wants to visit a boring or dead blog. Getting visitors requires that a lot of things be done right.

I intend employing the little I have learnt in my adventure into website designing. Dreamweaver was recommneded to me as the right tool. So, I am off to start studying. I will keep you posted on my progress. Who knows, one of these days, I will be honour to have you visiting my finished products (Good looking, highly interactive websites!)

Corruption in Nigeria - Who is to blame?

Who is to blame? Yes, who should be held responsible for the seemingly incurable disease call corruption in our Nation?
Answer: Each one of us that encourages it! Yes, each one of us that do nothing about it! Each one of us that honors those that engage in corrupt practices!
  • If every Nigerian were to frown at corruption at the grassroots level.
  • If every Nigerian refuse to tell lies in order to gain advantage over another.
  • If we refuse to honor those who we know are PEN-ROBBERS with Chieftancy Titles and Honorary Degree.
  • If we refuse to recognize their wealth or pay homage to them.
Then the spread of corruption will quickly be curtailed. Indeed in less than no time, it will be a thing of the past.
Until we as a society belief the biblical saying that "a good name is better than riches Prov. 22:1" the spread of corruption will not cease.

Let us stop celebrating thieves. Let's stop honoring those that are stealing the future of the unborn generation. Let's stop excusing misbehavior under the pretense of Religion or Ethnic affiliation. A thief should be treated as one. Whether he is
Abraham or Abdul, Northerner or Southerner, Male or Female.

Nigerian Legislators - When will they start working?

This is rather annoying. When will the legislators in Nigeria ever settle down and perform their constitutional duties. It is rather disgusting that since 1999 two-third of their tenure is being spent on debates about financial scandals and impeachable offenses. Of what good is it to the common man if all the legislator do is changing leadership instead of fulfilling their legislative duties?

I feel it is high time the society tell this so called representatives that the tax payer money being spent on them has to be justified. They must settle down and do the work of legislating for the good of the common man.

Imagine all the efforts, energy, time and money being wasted within their first 100days in office. I am beginning to doubt if they are representing us or their own "belly".

A new feature added

I just installed a nice little tool on this site called Snap Shots. It enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, RSS, MP3s, photos, stock charts and more.

Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while at other times it lets you "look ahead," before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.

However, if you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out.

Happy browsing!

Is it wrong for a Christian to Prosper?

Of recent, I have come across some write-ups by Christian brothers and sisters arguing that it is wrong to teach that a Christian can be prosperous. To me this is going too far and the stand has no basis in the scripture. Whether we like it or not, brethren will keep on remembering the fact that Abraham was made prosperous by God Himself (Gensis 12:2 The word translated bless - Berakah (ber-aw-kaw') is defined by Strong's dictionary as prosperity). Job was a prosperous man, after his travails in the hand of the devil, God did not just restore him back to his former level of prosperity but He made Him greater.

The scripture clearly stated that it is wrong for a Christian to "run" after money (Mathew 6:24-33) or turn money into his/her god. One cannot faithfully serve God and money at the same time. But that is not the same thing as saying that a Christian should be poor (3 John 1:2) .
The scripture teaches about prosperity (which is much more than accumulation of material things) while it condemn running after material things (1 Timothy 6:9-10).

In reality, a poor person is more of a liability to those around him/her. If a brother in our fellowship cannot pay his house rent. Won't we be burdened to collect free will donation to help him out of the situation lest he is thrown out by his landlord into the cold. Now, imagine what it will be like if 99% of the fellowship are in such state of finance such that they cannot cater for their basic needs.

To the best of my understanding, what we need to emphasize is the truth that "money" "material accumulation" does not bring fulfillment to a man. Rather, it is godliness that brings satisfaction and fulfillment. If this is settled in the mind of a Christian, then he/she will not find it difficult to live by the admonition of 1 Timothy 6:6-8 and devote more attention to the issue of pleasing the Lord.

It is not okay to just tell brethren that it is wrong for them to run after money, we need to explain why it is wrong, and what they ought to be running after. I will appreciate it if you can share your views on this topic. Shalom

Just back from Vacation

Hi, I just resumed work today. I've had a wonderful time away from the busy office life. It was indeed a time of rest and I had the opportunity of spending more time with my family. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty who made it an eventful one.
I am back at my desk excited and ready to offer better services than I have ever done before. There are new ideas that I am going to put to work. And of course, my blog is going to have some wonderful write-ups added on weekly basis (if not daily).
Keep checking back. I love you all. Maranatha!!!

Window XP logon Password Forgotten

I spent the first 2 hours of today's working hours searching for help on the internet in respect of Window XP log-on password reset.
A colleague of mine, changed the log-on password on his laptop, unfortunately, after rebooting the laptop, the machine rejected the password that he input as being incorrect. He tried all the password he has ever used but none worked. As an engineer, he need to use his laptop and he cannot afford to give it out for reformatting.
It was a dilemma. But thank God for free information on the net. I got an article and after following the instructions, I was able to help him reset his password.
But then, I came across a lot of articles that showed me that no computer is really safe. If given ample time, a malicious cracker can gain entry. So, passwords are not sufficient, you need to restrict physical access to y0ur machine, and if you're not working, disconnect from the internet.
Cheers.

JOKES - Computer History of the world

I came accross this joke at www.ahajokes.com. I laughed and laughed because it was so funny. I hope you like it.

Computer History of the World

In the beginning, God created the Bit and the Byte. And from those he created the Word.

And there were two Bytes in the Word; and nothing else existed. And God separated the One from the Zero; and he saw it was good.

And God said - Let the Data be; And so it happened. And God said - Let the Data go to their proper places. And he created floppy disks and hard disks and compact disks.

And God said - Let the computers be, so there would be a place to put floppy disks and hard disks and compact disks. Thus God created computers and called them hardware.

And there was no Software yet. But God created programs; small and big... And told them - Go and multiply yourselves and fill all the Memory.

And God said - I will create the Programmer; And the Programmer will make new programs and govern over the computers and programs and Data.

And God created the Programmer; and put him at Data Center; And God showed the Programmer the Catalog Tree and said You can use all the volumes and subvolumes but do not use Windows.

And God said - It is not good for the programmer to be alone. He took a bone from the Programmer's body and created a creature that would look up at the Programmer; and admire the Programmer; and love the things the Programmer does; And God called the creature: the User.

And the Programmer and the User were left under the naked DOS and it was Good.

But Bill was smarter than all the other creatures of God. And Bill said to the User - Did God really tell you not to run any programs?

And the User answered - God told us that we can use every program and every piece of Data but told us not to run Windows or we will die.

And Bill said to the User - How can you talk about something you did not even try. The moment you run Windows you will become equal to God. You will be able to create anything you like by a simple click of your mouse.

And the User saw that the fruits of the Windows were nicer and easier to use. And the User saw that any knowledge was useless--since Windows could replace it.

So the User installed the Windows on his computer; and said to the Programmer that it was good.

And the Programmer immediately started to look for new drivers. And God asked him--What are you looking for? And the Programmer answered--I am looking for new drivers because I can not find them in the DOS. And God said - Who told you need drivers? Did you run Windows? And the Programmer said - It was Bill who told us to!

And God said to Bill - Because of what you did, you will be hated by all the creatures. And the User will always be unhappy with you. And you will always sell Windows.

And God said to the User - Because of what you did, the Windows will disappoint you and eat up all your Resources; and you will have to use lousy programs; and you will always rely on the Programmers help.

And God said to the Programmer - Because you listened to the User, you will never be happy. All your programs will have errors and you will have to fix them and fix them to the end of time.

And God threw them out of the Data Center and locked the door and secured it with a password.

Internet Fraud - They never stop!!!

I thought by now, those who find pleasure in swindling innocent citizen of their hard earnings would have learnt a thing or two from the interenational disgrace that has been meted out to their fellow compatriots in Cybercrime. How wrong I was.
